What is Real Beauty?
You’ve heard the word “beauty” before, but what is real beauty? Real beauty is not about being pretty. It’s about being the best you can be and about being strong in mind, body, and spirit. Here are some exercises to help you learn to celebrate you!

Are You Treating Yourself Right?
Feeling great inside and out is what girlhood is all about. Give yourself a point for each statement you say “yes” to and see how you score:

  • I eat a variety of healthy foods at each meal.
  • I spend time every day doing something fun.
  • I sleep enough that I wake up refreshed in the morning.
  • I eat a meal every four to six hours to give my body energy.
  • I spend quiet time with myself each day.
  • I talk with others about my worries and fears.
  • I decide how much to eat by paying attention to whether my body feels satisfied rather than by whatever serving size is on my plate.
  • I’m active, and I exercise, dance, or play sports most days.
  • I try to learn something new each day.

Scoring:

  • 7-9 points: You’re already leading a healthy lifestyle. Keep it up!
  • 4-6 points: You’re off to a good start—do your best to do even more.
  • 3 or fewer points: Now you have ideas for how to treat yourself even better—go for it!

Celebrate You!
Find a friend and both write down three things you like about yourself and each other. Trade your lists and compare. Did she like the same things about you that you did? What did you learn about yourselves?

Make a
“Feel-Good” List

Choose a colorful piece of paper, then list five things you’re good at, whether it’s math or making up jokes. Keep this list in a special place so if you feel down about yourself, you can look it over and remember that you rock!
